StrengthErg Problem Symptom: When you pull the seated row bar and the drive cord will not move or retract. The StrengthErg may have some unusual noises coming from the mast with excessive resistance.
Solution:
If you suspect the drive cord on your StrengthErg has come off the carriage pulley, please follow the steps below to put it back on. If you find the drive cord to be damaged, or if the problem is something else entirely, please let me know.
- Remove the four t-27 fasteners holding the clamp cover onto the carriage
- Lift the cover out of the carriage, then fold the lever down to engage the clamp. You should be able to see the pulley and drive cord out of place. If the drive cord appears damaged, please contact Concept2. If it is not damaged, proceed.
- Pull the drive cord out between the spool under the seat and the carriage to create slack around the carriage pulley.
- Hold the drive cord to maintain the slack around the pulley while repositioning the drive cord in the groove of the pulley.
- Slowly let the drive cord retract back into the spool under the seat, making sure it is in place on the pulley in the carriage.
- Ensure the drive cord passes below the black disk attached to the bottom of the carriage clamp.
- Reinstall the cover on the carriage with the 4 t-27 fasteners. Do not over tighten the fasteners.
