Please read below for information how how to check or measure your Oar length.
- Oar Length and Boat Gearing: Oar length, along with variables like spread, blade size, blade type, inboard, and catch angle, determines boat gearing (rigging). A longer oar gives a higher gear (heavier load).
- Recommendations for Setting Oar Length: Set oars shorter when using efficient blades (e.g., Fat2), in slower boats, with narrower spread, longer reach, or when less handle overlap is needed.
-
Checking/Measuring Oar Length: Measure from the end of the grip to the end of the blade, continuing through the center line for hatchet-shaped blades.
