Symptom:
Error 46 is being displayed on my PM5
Resolution:
The error code 46 means that there is corrupted data on the monitor memory (or a flash drive if one is plugged into the back of the PM5). There are two ways to resolve this error.
If you want to keep the workout data saved on the device, then you will want to download the Concept2 Utility to a computer and connect the PM5/flash drive to the computer and attempt to download workouts. When the Concept2 Utility detects the workout data it will scan it for errors and offer to correct any if found. If you use this method, try scanning the monitor/flash drive twice to make sure it catches all the corrupted data (please be forewarned that in some cases the data does still get deleted even in trying this repair method).
If you do not care about the workout data, you can just reset the monitor to clear the memory and restore it to its factory default settings. To perform this reset you will not need a computer, as you will just be using a combination of button presses on the PM5 itself.
- To perform this reset, press and hold down both the ‘units’ and the ‘display’ buttons.
- While holding down these two buttons, remove and then reinstall one battery from the PM5 battery compartment
- After reinstalling the battery, continue holding the other two buttons down until you see "setting to factory defaults" displayed on the PM5.
- Once this is displayed, you can remove your fingers from the other two buttons and the monitor should be all set.
To help prevent this error from reoccurring again we recommend making sure that your monitor is running the latest firmware version. Please visit here for more information on updating your PM5.
